What to Look for in Your New Luxury Travel Trailer

What to Look for in Your New Luxury Travel Trailer

So you’re ready to take the plunge and buy a new luxury travel trailer? Congratulations! You’re about to make an investment into your future and give yourself the freedom to explore the country in new and exciting ways.

But, with so many different options and features out there, how will you know what to look for in a travel trailer when making your purchase? That’s a question we’ve put a lot of thought into here at Bowlus. We designed our luxury travel trailers with the answers to that question in mind, and we’re here to share that information with you.

Size

One of the first considerations to make when looking for a luxury travel trailer is size. While this is a personal preference, there are a few things to keep in mind when making this decision.

The first is to consider the places you plan to camp. Many established campgrounds and parks have limits on the length of the recreational vehicles that are allowed to park there. Luckily, a Bowlus fits under almost all of these requirements. On the other hand, camping off-grid (also known as boondocking) does not have any size restrictions.

There is no universal size for travel trailers, as they can vary between 9 feet in length to more than 40. That means it is much easier for people to find the right size for their specific needs. In general, a luxury travel trailer that’s around 25 feet long is the best, as it is big enough to have an open, comfortable floor plan but not too big for you to be unable to park it at most of the national parks. For instance, Mammoth Campground at Yellowstone National Park in California doesn’t allow any campers more than 30 feet in length.

Maintenance Needs

Another consideration is the amount and type of maintenance you’re willing to perform. For people who have never owned any type of recreational vehicle before and aren’t sure where to start or people who don’t enjoy that type of work, luxury travel trailers are perfect. Some of the larger campers, like motorhomes and sprinter vans, require a lot more maintenance because they have their own motors and are susceptible to reliability issues.

Luxury travel trailers, on the other hand, are far simpler because they are not self-propelled. This means you don’t have to worry about engines going out, oil needing to be changed, or anything else like that. Travel trailers are far less work.

Easy Drivability

No matter where you intend to camp, you’ll still have to get your new recreational vehicle there before you can enjoy it. Some of those larger RVs, especially motorhomes, can be very difficult to maneuver. Some of them even require special driver’s licenses, like Class A or Class B, instead of the standard Class C license.

That’s why choosing a luxury travel trailer that can be hauled by a regular car or truck, like a Bowlus, is by far the better option. This is especially true if you’ll be sharing the driving responsibilities with another driver. When you can haul your travel trailer out to your campsite by using your own car, there isn’t much of a learning curve required.

When we designed the Bowlus, we designed it with ease of use in mind. Not every camping trip is taken with the entire family or with your friends, and sometimes it’s nice to be able to get out and enjoy the benefits of nature by yourself. In cases like those, you don’t want to have to worry about not being able to handle your travel trailer alone. With a hitching system that can be hitched or unhitched in under a minute by a single person, you can still enjoy all of the benefits of your Bowlus without having to bring along additional people to help.

Design

Although the size, driveability, and maintenance are all serious things to consider before purchasing a new luxury travel trailer, you should also make sure to consider the design. Even the easiest-to-take-care-of RV isn’t a great purchase if you’re not proud to be seen camping in it.

Take our Bowlus, for instance. We settled for no less than perfection in our design, which is why each luxury travel trailer we make has been handcrafted by fourth-generation artisans using authentic Californian craftsmanship. The monocoque frame is fused together out of aluminum tubes and covered with eighty panels of aerospace aluminum. Each panel is riveted to the frame with rigid, stringent precision. Once the exterior has been installed and has met our high standards, our craftworkers take 100 hours to polish it until it reflects the scenery around it.

The best part is that before your new luxury travel trailer reaches its final leg of its journey to you, we’ll add the name of your choosing on the fender skirts. We want you to be as proud of your new investment as we are. We believe our campers are works of art, and we know you will too.

Interior Design

Although the external design is important for people viewing the travel trailer from outside, the interior design is important for anyone enjoying the RV from inside.

We put just as much thought and consideration into our interior design as we did to our luxury travel trailer’s exterior. We started with a luxurious palette of colors and a collection of textures, including real birch wood and stainless steel. Our brilliant seamstresses take thoughtfully curated fabrics and transform them into the designer seating and bedding that the Bowlus is known for. The end result is a camper that’s not only beautiful to look at but comfortable to both entertain and sleep in.

Specifications

The last thing to look for in a luxury travel trailer is its specifications. There are plenty of different options out there, and each can make a major difference in the performance and comfort of the camper.

First and foremost, check out the power management system. If you plan on taking your travel trailer boondocking, spending at least a day or two off-grid, this is one of the most important considerations. You don’t want to head out on an adventure only to have a travel trailer that isn’t any better than a basic tent. When you invest in a Bowlus, you will be traveling with the most sophisticated power management system in the industry. The system was designed to maximize flexibility and allows for reliability both on and off-grid.

It does that by using the industry’s largest lithium iron phosphate batteries. This means you can spend up to two weeks off-grid while still being able to use your appliances.

Another specification to pay attention to is the amount of storage space. If you’re looking for a travel trailer, you likely enjoy camping for more than a day or two at a time. That means you’ll be bringing plenty of different things with you to make sure your road trip is exactly what you want it to be. With our travel trailer, you’ll get spacious storage, including outstanding yours-and-mine closets, ample amounts of cupboards and drawers, and a full medicine chest and vanity in the bathroom.

And finally, look at the sleeping arrangements. A good suggestion is to make sure the travel trailer you’re considering has a variety of sleeping areas. To help with that, we designed a private bedroom in our luxury travel trailer with two twin beds that can be combined to form a single king. Both the twins and the king beds have high-quality mattresses, topped with a mattress with a memory foam top layer. To make them even more comfortable, both bed configurations come with eco linen sheets and duvets.

The sofa in the living room converts to a third sleeping berth, and the armchair also converts to create a fourth sleeping berth. That allows the camper to sleep a single person or up to four, depending on need.

In Summary…

When you invest in a new travel trailer, don’t settle for anything less than the ultimate in performance, technology, and luxury. Every Bowlus was designed for supreme comfort and to provide you with the endless freedom to make your own rules and explore the world on your own terms.

Make sure you know what to look for before purchasing, and don’t settle for anything less than you deserve. Your future adventures will more than make up for being a little picky.
