Is It True That RVs Aren’t Inspected at the Manufacturer?
Quality control is a hot topic in the RV industry these days. The sad state of affairs is that when the big manufacturers deliver their mass-produced travel trailers, 5th wheels, and motorhomes to the RV dealer, they’re not 100% customer-ready. Often, they’re far from it. That’s why they pay to have the dealer’s technicians perform what’s called a pre-delivery inspection, or PDI before the unit is sold to the customer. During the PDI, the dealer’s techs test all the systems and fix everything from minor trim issues to major wiring or plumbing problems.
At Bowlus, we take a different approach. We run the most comprehensive quality control program in the industry. We use best-in-class materials in our luxury RVs and take great care to ensure that every Bowlus leaves the factory ready for your adventures.
That means that each Volterra, Terra Firma, or Rivet must pass multiple detailed quality checks before moving down the production line. Rivets (the fastener, not the model), trim work, seams, water, propane and power systems are just a few examples of what must pass inspection.
When the construction is complete, we perform an exhaustive 252-point final inspection and take each luxury RV for a test drive. Only then, when it’s received our approval, will a Bowlus be delivered to the customer, fully ready for its first foray into the wilderness.
The result is that over the past decade, we’ve cultivated a reputation for unmatched quality in the industry. Bowlus owners often tell us how much they appreciate the care we take in crafting their RV – especially if they’re upgrading from a mass-produced model where quality was an afterthought.
High-quality craftsmanship is the hallmark of every Bowlus. Why? Because our customers want and deserve the very best. And we believe it’s just the right thing to do.
