What You Should Look For In A Luxury RV Camper

What You Should Look For In A Luxury RV Camper

Are you ready to expand your camping horizons into purchasing a luxury RV camper? While this is big-ticket item, minimize your stress level by learning ahead of time what you should be looking for. The team here at Bowlus is here to help with your purchase by giving you a list of what factors are really important when deciding on which camper to ultimately go with. We want you to feel as confident as possible and to be able to design the exact adventures that you’ve always dreamed of having.

Luxury RV Camper Length

When you’re looking into purchasing a new luxury RV camper, one of the first considerations to make is how much space you are likely to need.

Luxury RV campers vary widely in terms of their length. In fact, they are actually divided into multiple different classes:

  • Travel Trailers – Travel trailers can be difficult to summarize, because they vary wildly even just in their own category. They can be anywhere from 13 to 40 feet, and were designed to be pulled behind a vehicle with a hitch. Most travel trailers require a larger vehicle to tow them, like a truck or SUV. And the Bowlus can be towed behind almost all SUVs and even some cars due to it’s ultra lightweight design.

  • Fifth Wheel Trailers – Another style of towable trailer, fifth wheels are usually longer than a typical travel trailer (normally between 25 and 40 feet long). They have a similar over cab extension to some Class C motorhome RVs, and may have more space to accommodate large groups or longer trips.

With so many different options, one of the first things you should consider is how much space you want. A Bowlus travel trailer provides just enough space without going overboard. It’s the perfect size for up to four people to live, eat, and sleep comfortably.

Does It Match Your Vehicle?

Another thing that you need to look for in a luxury RV camper is the vehicle required to tow it. With so many classes of RVs out there, some of them require a special hitch and/or size of the vehicle to tow them appropriately. If you don’t already have a large vehicle, you may want to stay away from some of the larger, longer classes. You don’t want to have to buy a whole new vehicle after already purchasing a luxury RV.

Part of this decision involves looking into your vehicle’s towing capacity, or how much it can tow without overloading or risking damage to the vehicle. Compare that with the weight of the luxury RV you’re looking at (adding at least 1000 pounds for gear, etc.), and make sure that the two are compatible before finalizing the deal.

When you purchase a Bowlus travel trailer, this isn’t something you really need to worry about. With its aerodynamic shape, low center of gravity, and incredibly low weight (nearly 3,000 pounds lighter than comparably sized models), so you can tow it with nearly almost every SUV and even some standard cars. There’s no need to worry when you’re towing a Bowlus because it’s one of the safest and easiest trailers out there to tow.

Kitchen Amenities

It wouldn’t be a luxury RV without a kitchen, but what exactly should you look for in a mobile kitchen? Can you expect to cook and eat the same on the road?

Absolutely. Part of the luxury of a luxury camper is eating a gourmet meal that you made in the comfort of your own travel trailer.

The first and most important consideration when it comes to kitchen amenities is to think about what you expect in a kitchen. Keep in mind, while many come with the same amenities, you can also bring your own extra, essential appliances to complete the design. Ideas for additional appliances are a blender, an AeroPress, an instant pot or crockpot, and an immersion blender with a whisk.

Stoves are a part of nearly every luxury RV. When looking at RV camper stoves, note what type of fuel they require to run and how many burners they have. Like our Endless Highways Premium Edition, look for burners that run on liquid propane (LP) which can easily be refilled on the road. Our two-burner Italian cooktop stands out from the rest, and the microwave can even run on batteries, so you don’t have to worry about it going out. You get both of these stellar appliances with your Bowlus.

The size of the fridge and freezer is another consideration. You’ll want to think about how much food you plan to take with you on a regular trip (usually related to how long you plan to travel for each time), as well as how those appliances are powered. In a Bowlus, there’s plenty of space in the fridge to store the ingredients for all the gourmet meals that you want.

Sleeping Arrangements

After making a big gourmet meal, you may want to take a nap. That’s why sleeping arrangements are another important factor to consider before purchasing.

Obviously, the biggest consideration here is how many people you plan to regularly travel with and the sleeping arrangements involved. Most people want at least one “master” bedroom with luxury options, even if they’ll just be traveling with their significant other.

One thing to look for is a bedroom that has multiple sleeping arrangements. A bed that can convert from a king-sized bed into two twin-sized beds like the one in our Bowlus travel trailer is your best option because it can easily convert to accommodate any group of people. Our beds also have a comfortable, supportive mattress as backs can sometimes take a beating on long road trips (the memory foam top layer is a major bonus).

At Bowlus, we know that comfort is exactly what you’re looking for, which is why our beds have eco-linen sheets, and our bedrooms feature heating and cooling so that you’re always going to be comfortable overnight.

But that’s not where the sleeping arrangements stop. In a Bowlus, there are often additional sleeping spaces outside of just the bedroom. In the dining area, an armchair and a sofa convert to two more sleeping berths so that your entire crew can have a comfortable night’s sleep.

Bathroom Space

The final thing to look for in a luxury RV is the bathroom size and space.

Start by looking at how the black water tank that is created by the toilet is emptied. Luckily, with a Bowlus, this isn’t something that you have to worry about. Our toilets feature an easy-to-empty handheld cassette system, so you don’t have to bother with finding an approved dumpsite like you would with another RV.

After looking at that, you’ll also want to consider the entire size of the bathroom. Larger bathrooms don’t necessarily mean better, but they do provide extra storage space if you take longer trips. Your Bowlus features a hotel-style bathroom with privacy doors and yours and mine wardrobes, so you always have somewhere to store your supplies. There’s also a vanity with a medicine cabinet, so the storage is plentiful.

The size of the shower, and the type of showerhead that it has is a big factor for a lot of people. Our Italian marine showerhead provides an exquisite experience, and you can even extend it for an outdoor shower. Regardless, you want a constant source of hot water even if you’re camping “off the grid,” and with a Bowlus, you’ll never run out. Nobody wants the water to run out while they’re in the middle of a shower after a long day.

In Conclusion…

A Bowlus travel trailer has everything that you’d look for in a travel trailer and more. We designed our Bowlus luxury travel trailers to have something for everyone, and we hope that you choose us for your next great American road trip. We’d love to be a part of your dream, no matter what it looks like.
